These running events are held monthly, ranging from large-scale marathons with thousands of participants to smaller racing events with only a few hundred runners taking part. You may be close enough to drive to the race on the day of the event or want to stay in the city and make a staycation out of it. No matter what type of race you crave and how you plan to spend your race weekend, Dallas-Fort Worth is the place to do it.

 

BMW Dallas Marathon

The BMW Dallas Marathon is the oldest marathon in Texas and the largest marathon in Dallas. It’s also a marathon that many runners can’t wait to be a part of each year. This year’s BMW Dallas Marathon will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2019, starting at Dallas City Hall Plaza. The schedule for the BMW Dallas Marathon is:

  • Corral A: Closes at 8:25 a.m.; Starts at 8:30 a.m.
  • Corral B: Closes at 8:35 a.m.; Starts at 8:40 a.m.
  • Corral C: Closes at 8:45 a.m.; Starts at 8:50 a.m.
  • Corral D: Closes at 8:45 a.m.; Starts at 9 a.m.

The cost to race in the BMW Dallas Marathon is $159-$179, depending on when you register. Registration is now open online. For those seeking out a different type of race during the weekend, a half marathon, ultra marathon, 10K, 5K, and other races will also be held. Online registration is now available for these events as well. 

 

Trinity River Run Half Marathon

The Trinity River Run Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K will unfold in Dallas on November 9, 2019. This scenic running event takes place at sunset and rolls on into the evening hours as runners race through Dallas to the finish line. The start and finish line is at the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge and the half marathon, 10K, and 5K will take participants on a lovely run throughout the streets of Dallas. 

The schedule for the evening’s event is as follows:

  • Half Marathon Start: 4 p.m.
  • 10K Start: 5:30 p.m.
  • 5K Start: 5:45 p.m.

The cost to participate in the half marathon is $119.99 and registration closes at noon on November 5. To take part in the 10K and 5K, the cost is $79.99 and $59.99, respectively. Registration fills up, so be sure to register online as soon as possible. 

 

Cowtown Marathon

The Cowtown Marathon is a Fort Worth race event taking place the weekend of February 29-March 1, 2020. The Ultra Marathon, Marathon, and Half Marathon will be held on Sunday, March 1, while the 10K and 5K will be held on Saturday, February 29. All events will begin at 3400 Burnett Tandy Drive and the Fort Worth marathon route will go from there. 

The schedule for the Cowtown Marathon weekend is:

  • 10K: February 29 at 7 a.m.
  • 5K Adults: February 29 at 8:30 a.m.
  • 5K Kids: February 29 at 9:30 a.m.
  • Ultra Marathon, Full Marathon, and Half Marathon: March 1 at 7 a.m.

The prices to take part in these events is as follows (exact price depends on time of registration): 

  • Ultra Marathon: $140-$175
  • Full Marathon: $130-$155
  • Half Marathon: $115-$145
  • 10K: $50-$65
  • 5K Adults: $40-$50
  • 5K Kids: $25-$50

Registration is now open online and the sooner you register, the more money you’ll save on the registration fee.
