Anyone who has moved can tell you how much time, money, and preparation that goes into a relocation, but especially an interstate one.  Even if you are hiring movers, it can still be overwhelming to go through the process by yourself.  With all the details and regulations to keep track of when moving across state lines, it can be helpful to have someone guide you through the process.  One helpful liaison can be a moving consultant.

As you prepare for an interstate move, you will have a lot on your plate.  Any move is stressful, but the greater the distance, the more anxious people tend to get.  In addition to finding a trustworthy moving company to get your belongings from Home A to Home B, a moving consultant can help ease your mind.  Moving consultants are well versed in the relocation process.  They can help provide you with an assessment as well as other helpful tips, like proper packing strategies.  They help you plan your move from what days packers with come, to what time the movers should be scheduled to begin loading the truck.  They also can guide you on just how many materials, such as boxes and packing paper, you will need.  Some might even be able to help you find some deals and some a little money.

35 years ago, the American Moving and Storage Association began the Certified Moving Consultant Program.  A CMC has gone through the comprehensive program and passed exams on interstate moving regulations and customer requirements.  This allows these certified consultants to effectively navigate you through your interstate move and give you some peace of mind knowing you have help every step of the way.  To be a CMC, the applicant must be with an AMSA member company, which can give some more peace of mind knowing they are affiliated with an AMSA member.  In addition to going through rigorous training, each CMC is held to the Code of Ethics and Professional Practices, and participates in continuing education and recertification each year.  You may come across a moving consultant who is not certified through AMSA.  These professionals should still be able to offer you the services you are looking for, but it is recommended to hire a certified consultant, to ensure that the consultant has gone through the training and passed the certification exam through AMSA.  You can find a CMC utilizing the AMSA search website.

When it comes time to make an interstate move, having confidence that everything is squared away can go a long way.  Having a competent sales consultant you understands the ins and outs of interstate moving can relieve stress and help your move go smoothly.
