Moving By Design

We used this company to move us from Crystal Beach, Texas to Dripping Springs, Texas a year and a half ago. They did an average job then. We decided to move back to the beach and called and had them move us to a storage unit in League City since that's where they were located while our new house was being built. There is when we started with the issues. At first, they came and move all our belongings to the storage unit. The day they were supposed to put all our belongings in the storage unit, Tim called and said that the guy that had the key to the truck wasn't available and he had to go get an extra key made to the truck to unload our belongings. It took all day. Then when they finally arrived at the storage unit, they unloaded our stuff VERY inefficiently. I was worried about it but left everything there until our house was ready, about 7 months later. When I called Tim I noticed that he changed his message to say he was Tim (not Moving By Design) and I left a message that I was ready for him to move our belongings to the new house. He never returned my call so I had to use another company to complete the move. They destroyed 90% of our things! Every piece of furniture was scratched or ruined. All the clothes that were in the armoire boxes where placed on its side and completed wrinkled. Every piece of furniture except for maybe one piece was scratched or ruined. I am so disappointed with this company and would never expect anyone to use this company! Do yourself a favor and call someone else! You won't be sorry!

Recently I hired moving by design. After unloading my possessions and unpacking them I discovered items missing- Safe included important documents and jewelry portable A/C, Portable Power Supply and other items. I contacted Moving By Design after realizing these items were missing. I filed a claim with the court. I was hoping that Moving By Design would accept responsibility and do the right thing. I will update this post regarding the outcome whether it be a court judgement or settlement by Moving By Design.

I had a great experience with Moving By Design in December 2024 for a residential move, so I decided to use them again in December 2025. This year though, I was not very pleased with their services. The movers almost arrived past the scheduled timeframe because there was an issue with getting a truck. Never received a courtesy call to get an update. The moving team did not properly protect a dresser of ours and they caused very noticeable damage to it (paint scratched off and chips/dents in the wood). A few of our plastic moving boxes were also broken. And they also put a dent in the wall of our new house while moving items upstairs. Lastly, the moving team had to make phone calls to their front office staff because they “didn’t receive any paperwork” and did not know how much to charge me. The movers themselves were nice and courteous, but the quality of their work could be improved. My overall experience with Moving By Design this year was disappointing and did not feel professional.

This was my second time to contact Moving By Design to move me from one apartment to another in two years. The first time, the move was fantastic. They sent me three very experienced and professional movers. They moved me from a 1 bedroom apartment to a two bedroom. I was so impressed by the move that I knew they would be my to go to movers for any future moves. I contacted them back in April and set up a day and time. I contacted them a second time to change my date from June 26 to June 22. On the morning of June 22, 2020 two men showed up. Not the three men I was promised. I could tell right away that one man had no experience at all and the second man had minimal experience. They completely fumbled the move. My heart is broken and now feel violated by a company that I trusted with all my possessions. Attached are pictures of how they left my furniture. My son had to come over and put the bed back together. It was a disaster and i was charged for 8 hrs of moving. They had about 5 hours of down time. They left at 11:45 am to go to lunch and came back at 1:45 pm but did not get out of the truck until some time after 3:00 pm. They actually left the property with all my boxes on the truck. I filed a complaint with the BBB asking for a receipt and a complete record of the move paperwork . MBD has not responded to my complaint or provided me my resolution. Please be very careful if you are considering hiring this company. You may be expecting a great move that turns into a nightmare. I still have not received a receipt or paperwork from the move that I requested in my complaint with the BBB.
