My overall all experience with my movers was awesome. I choose Johnny on the move. And I'm glad I did. They were wonderful. First of all, before I booked them, I was stressed out. My husband was in charge of securing the movers. We had less than a week to move a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house. Unfortunately his movers fell through. So I went online, and it was like looking for a needle in a haystack. It was so many movers to choose from. But I finally chose Johnny on the Move. First, Jacquline was great. She was friendly and answered all my questions. Second the movers was on time. They packed my house in a little over an hour. If left up to me, I would have just put the items on the truck. But they took time to carefully wrap each item before placing it on the truck. Third, they were so friendly. When we got to my new home. It felt like we were friends. They carefully unpacked each item. They arranged it just as asked. And they cleaned as they went. Lastly, there were items that I needed moved to the basement. It wasn't part of the move. But they were heavy, and I couldn't do it myself. I asked if they would do it. And they did. I was so pleased with them, I gave them a generous tip. They took the stress out of what could've been a very stressful situation. I would definately recommend Johnny on the Move. They're very professional.

My choice to choose Johnny on the Move was because they were the least expensive on the list provided by Move Matcher. That was a HUGE mistake. They were scheduled to move me from 8am - 12pm. They arrived at 11:30am, citing a flat tire. We I expressed my concern about the late start and the fact that I reserved the elevator in my building from 8am -12pm, I was told I would still have to pay $80/hr for any time beyond 2hrs. There was no empathy, concern or consideration for my position, dispite it being caused by their tardiness. To make matters worse, during the move they broke 3 lamps. When I asked will they pay for my lamps, I was reminded of the document I signed stating that I was only covered for .30 cents per pound. I was told I COULD HAVE purchased additional insurance that would have covered the cost of my lamps (but I was never offered this insurance before). I also found several of my art pieces were damaged. When I called the company on Monday to express my disatisfaction, the phone was answered and I was asked my name. When I said my name the guy on the other end hung up the phone. I immediately called back and no one answered the phone. This was the worst move in my entire life and a very expensive lesson. Everyone has a choice with whom to do business, I recommend you do your due diligence, read the fine print and proceed at your own risk, IF you choose to use this company.

PLEASE READ IN ITS ENTIRETY. So I just had Johnny on the move help us with our move over the weekend. All I can say is BEWARE!!! The guys arrived on time which was good. They worked really hard getting my stuff on the truck. I moved out of a two bedroom condo into a house. The problem is they quoted me $420 for the first two hours and $110 per hour after that. They brought a truck that barely fit my furniture and boxes. Once they filled up the truck, I still had a whole house full of stuff that literally took another trucks worth to fill up. They drove about 30 miles to my new house which took them an hour and a half to get there. Then after paying over $1k to move the first truck, they had to drive all the way back ( on my dime) to get the rest of my stuff. We called to speak with the manager that set up our appointment and they said they would get someone to help the 3 guys that were already moving to speed up the process. That guy never came. The management was complete unhelpful. The whole job took a total of 16 hours (6 hours of drive time worth $660) to move everything which all could’ve been avoided had they brought a bigger truck. The last trip back to my house they left at 9:50PM and they got to my house at 11:30PM ( I timed them) when they got to the house they said I had to pay for an addition 2 hours for them to load off the second truck into my garage. At this point I paid them another $880 and they said if it takes less than 2 hours of time to unload the truck I’ll get the different back. I had to do something so I helped them move it off the truck my self. It took 29 minutes. They charged me an hours worth and refunded me the $110. The total job cost me over $1700 to move a small 2 bedroom condo with barely any big furniture. That’s ridiculous. I’m upset and feel like I was complete cheated. Get this too, They almost broke my $2000 glass table cause one of the guys dropped the glass also they ruined a brand new glider chair. Their policy for damaged items is .30/ pound so if your $5k TV gets broken and weighs 100 pounds all you get is $30 bucks???? Complete SCAM!! I wish someone did a review on them like this because I would’ve never hired them. This should’ve been a 6-7 hour job MAX. Please do some research when moving so you don’t have to do the work for them and take your things off the truck while your paying for them to do it.

Beware! Johnny on the move will give you a very low quote then charge you double. I gave them a detailed list of our items over the phone and they quoted us $475 (3 bed 2 bath single family home). The mover's van broke down so instead of coming at 1pm as promised, they arrived at 7pm on 6/27/22. When they arrived, they literally laughed at the quote and said the move would take 6-8 hours and cost at least $1,200. I had no choice but to agree since we had set up the move weeks prior. The next day they came to unload the truck. It took them 3 hours to load and they said it would take 3 hours to unload. They would not unload a single thing until I paid them CASH ($1050, which managed to get lowered by their receptionist, Abby, prior to them arriving). They were SUPPOSED TO move everything into the house and re-assemble all the furniture. Instead they DUMPED ALL OF OUR THINGS IN THE DRIVEWAY/GARAGE AND DROVE OFF AFTER 1.5 HOURS. Many of our items were broken, furniture is scratched, the wood legs to our coffee tables are split, my bike is ruined, and we cannot make a claim because they BLOCKED OUR PHONE NUMBERS. We reported them to the BBB and were notified by the BBB that they have received no response. They haven't responded to the IL Attorney General's Office, either. Don't be fooled by their unrealistic quotes and RUN!

I have moved over a half a dozen times in my life. This is the worst company I have ever done business with. I should have suspected as much when they were able to book my move within a few days, and they gave me an estimate that was considerably less than the competitors. I learned my lesson the hard way! Here's the sequence of events. Please learn from my experience and never, never choose this awful, low rate company. They are professional scammers: 1. I set up my services and received confirmation of a deposit for 50 dollars charged to my credit card for booking the services. No other instructions were sent to me via text or mail until the evening before the move. 2. The evening before the move, I received a confirmation email for the services, including confirmation on the rate for four movers and instructions about the need to pay cash and that payment would be due before the truck was unloaded. I have to say that this was never communicated to me ahead of time and if I had known, I would have considered a second opinion at the time of the booking. Who pays for a service before the job is completed? Only somebody who is planning to scam you, that's for sure! 3. The movers showed up on time, but only with three movers instead of 4. I was notified that the rate "would be adjusted." You have to realize, however, that this significantly slowed down the process, as you had only two people loading for the first 3 hours and one person doing the unassembling of the furniture. The fourth person showed up 3 hours later, and then the "4-person" rate started counting at that point according to the foreman. 4. When we arrived at the destination, I proceeded to pay $1060 (it was $1057, but he had no change) after the foreman gave me his estimate of time. I knew they were going to go over because it was only the foreman assembling things back together (that he personally chose to unassembled completely). I still don't understand why he had to take a dining table entirely apart. He then didn't even know how to put back together, and it took him twice as long, causing damage to the legs of my very fine dining table. He also chose to take down apart an Ikea sofa totally, when it was probably not necessary to do so, and he was unable to put it back together. 5. Of note, I was helping the whole time, taking down the padding, moving boxes around, etc., trying to expedite the process. 6. As I realize that things were going to go over the estimated time I was given (4:15 pm), I decided to head over to the ATM to get more cash for the balance due and for tips to the crew. The foreman told me he calculated just another half hour and that "I had to pay for that half hour right then and there." I explained that I was going to the ATM and he became insulting and he said that if I didn't pay right there and then for the extra half hour, he would have to stop working. I told him that I didn't have money, so he proceeded to unload the rest of my belonging and just left him at the curve. He refused to assemble the remaining Ikea sofa, they did not unpack the TV; they did not move the remaining boxes to the corresponding places or even dispose of the trash. 7. I contacted the owner by email and by phone. I called multiple times for several weeks and never got a response. I requested a copy of my signed contract and never got a response. 8. I have read other reviews and realized they have a similar modus operandi. They request to get paid in advance, and if the job goes over the estimated time and there is no more cash to pay in advance, they leave the job unfinished. They don't let you run to the ATM, pay with check or with credit card. However, none of this is explained ahead of time. The furniture is not well cared for. They are rude, and they do not respond when you attempt to contact them. They should be put out of business. I have already filed a complained to the consumer's bureau.

I found this company on Angie’s List. I was quoted $370 after sending a DETAILED list of items to be moved from my 2 br apt. Anna called to take $50 deposit and said she was sending a 3 man crew, scheduled to arrive at 9:00am. Day of move Tito called at 8:15 to tell me that 3 people called off and they’d get to me around noon. They ended up arriving at 10:30, with only 2 people and a truck that was too small. Tito walked through my apt and immediately told me it was going to take them approx 10 hours and that they’d have to make 2 trips. After filling the truck they announced they were taking a 30 min (paid) lunch break. An HOUR LATER they finally arrived at new apt. I had to pay the “estimated” amount ($750) as soon as they arrived, and will have to pay the additional amount when they come back with the 2nd load. My daughter and I joined in the chain with Tito & the other guy, carrying boxes in the house just to speed the process. It ended up taking 11 hours and cost me $990 to move a 2BR apt. I have damage to 2 walls in the new apt, they broke 2 lamps, damaged my TV stand, and broke an antique piano desk. They also did not reassembled any of my furniture. I have tried repeatedly to contact someone at the company to file a complaint and insurance claim, to no avail. This was by far the worst moving experience ever. I absolutely would NOT recommend this company and will 100% never use them again.

Let me start by saying that this review comes after hiring them for 4 moves. The first experience with them, amazing. The quality continued to decline but this last experience was absolutely TERRIBLE! To start we were quoted $650. Our movers moved very slowly, and were pretty rude to my husband and I. (Keep in mind that my husband and I helped carry out furniture and boxes both in and out of their truck) The movers took a 45 min break in between our old house to our new house, which was only a 10 minute drive away. Then after charging us for their lunch break when we finished earlier than expected the foreman didn’t even give us enough money back! We should’ve gotten $75 back for finishing a half hour early and that doesn’t include their paid break but he only threw $60 at my husband and tried the slam the door on us. We immediately called the office and the lady on the phone said she would call me the next day to discuss the difference on the bill. I never got a call back nor did anyone answer the phone after I called several times!!! Don’t waste your time. Not only did we lose our money but they broke some of our items.
