I waited a few months before posting this review because I didn’t want to risk impacting anyone’s job. That said, as a customer, I genuinely wish I had seen a review like this beforehand.
This company is very well-reviewed, which is why I chose them. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t match those expectations.
A few key points:
* Nearly all of my furniture was damaged during the move. I understand that moving can be difficult and accidents happen, but the extent of the damage was surprising and disappointing. My husband and I had just moved back from Europe and purchased all new furniture not long before this move, so these were not older items.
- A section of my $2,500 couch was damaged on the back. Sadly it’s not against a wall, so now I have to cover it with a blanket to hide the big dent.
- I had a bed frame delivered and assembled about a month prior, and I paid the movers to disassemble and reassemble it in my new home. I noticed parts were loaded onto the truck without proper protection (literally laid flat on the truck floor, not wrapped), which resulted in visible damage to the front of the frame and sides. One area now gives me splinters when I get in bed.
- The back panel of a bar was broken, and the top surface was scratched.
* Midway through the move, I was told there would be an additional $150 charge to move a dresser due to its weight. Based on the product listing when we purchased it, it should not have qualified for a bulky item fee. My husband and I were able to move it upstairs on our own when it was delivered. But at that point, I felt I didn’t have much of a choice but to agree.
* The movers mentioned they could have used an additional person, which made the process slow and feel strained. I had provided full details of the inventory and apartment size when booking, so I was surprised by this.
* During the final hour of the move, I felt pressured to leave a review on the spot. I was asked multiple times and guided through opening review platforms. This made me uncomfortable and contributed to my decision to wait before posting an honest review.
The two guys were fine. I liked them in general, there was just those few things that felt awkward and sort of feel bad moments for me. And also not doing a great job handling my furniture with care.
In total, I paid over $2200 for a two-bedroom apartment move with one hour of travel time between locations. Given the amount of damage to major items, the experience was disappointing.
I’m sharing this simply so others have a more complete picture when making their decision on movers. It’s already a very stressful time to not have to worry about your items getting damaged or having unfair unexpected fees.

Malik and his crew were fantastic to work with. They were professional, efficient, and very careful with everything. The whole process went smoothly, and I really appreciate how easy they made it for us.

Roman and Arte'm were thoughtful and cautious of all of my furniture. Worked quietly, quickly, and tirelessly in not to disturb my surroundings/neighbors. Professional is not high enough a gratitude for their work and the highest I have seen in a long time. Best California Movers is a guarantee and not a statement.

Cesar and his team did a great job. He was very professional, answered all of our questions, and listened to our requests. It was a team of 3 movers. They arrived on time. They took their time, packed everything carefully, and unloaded everything at the new place per our instructions. They took the large furniture apart and put it back together again. They were able to finish ahead of schedule because we had already packed everything and moved some of the smaller items ourselves.
There were no major damage to our items or to the property. Just a couple of small items were broken, but that was really our own fault for not packing them properly. But that is to be expected in any big move. When they left, it was as though they had never been here.
Their customer service even followed up after the move to make sure everything was ok and we were happy.
Great experience with this company. They did a great job overall. I would not hesitate to recommend them to family or friends.

In general, I am leery of moving companies, however, I was very pleased with Best California Movers. Our move was a fairly difficult move involing multiple pick up places, as well as managing stairs and tight corners. The movers from Best California Movers were professional, polite, and worked very hard, as well as taking extra steps to protect furniture and walls. This, and I found them very reasonably priced for what they delivered.
