Get to know League City, TX

League City is located in the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land metropolitan area.  It was a Native American village before the Butler, Cowart, and Perkins families came and settled the area.  Residents began arriving in the 1870s and the area was originally known as Butler’s Ranch or Clear Creek.  J.C. League acquired the land and began laying out a town along the already established Galveston, Houston, and Henderson Railroad.  After a brief feud over the name, League City was chosen.  The city was officially incorporated in 1962.  It is known for the large Perry Family YMCA as well as several waterside resorts popular among residents of nearby Houston.  It also has been named one of the best cities in Texas for people looking for a job.
