Get to know Allen, TX

The affluent city of Allen is a suburb north of Dallas.  Initially a cattle town, the town was built up around the Central Texas Railroad and named after the railroad promoter and politician Ebenezer Allen.  The city was incorporated in 1953 and has seen dramatic growth since then with the development of nearby Dallas and Plano, as well as the construction of Route 75 and the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.  The Allen Independent School District is the city’s main employer.  Notable residents have included Olympian Carly Patterson and NFL player Steven Terrell.
