Get to know North Richland Hills, TX

North Richland Hills is a suburb of Dallas and Fort Worth.  The community began when W.S. Peters agreed to bring 600 families to the area over three years as part of a land grant.  The first families arrived in the summer of 1948.  The community focused on farming and ranching into the 20th century.  In 1952, Clarence Jones began to subdivide his dairy farm into a suburban addition.  The following year, the Civic League sought to be annexed to Richland Hills.  When annexation failed the community voted and decided to form their own city, and was incorporated as North Richland Hills.  The city is the headquarters of HealthMarkets, one of the major employers in the city.  Other main employers in North Richland Hills include Santander Consumer USA and North Hills Hospital.
