Get to know Clifton, NJ

The city of Clifton lies in five different zip codes in Passaic County.  It was incorporated as a city in 1917 by the New Jersey legislature.  It is home to New Jersey’s largest single-facility high school, Clifton High School.  It has seen small but consistent increases in population since 2000.  The local hot dog restaurant Rutt’s Hut has been open since 1928, even making it on The New York Times shortlist for hot dog stops.  It was the headquarters of Linens ‘n Things prior to the company’s 2009 bankruptcy.  One notable resident of the city was actress Vera Farmiga, who was born in Clifton.
