Get to know Westmont, IL

The village of Westmont is roughly 24 miles west of Chicago in DuPage County.  Home to the Potawatami Native Americans until 1833, it was incorporated in 1921 and experienced  significant population growth in the 1960s and 1970s when it began to promote commercial and industrial growth.  Famous residents include musician Muddy Waters and Ty Warner, the inventor of Beanie Babies.  Warner helped to purchase and develop the land that would become Ty Warner Park, which the Westmont Park District opened in in the early 2000s.  Westmont has never witnessed a decrease in population, but recent years have seen only a minimal increase.
