Get to know St. Charles, IL
The city of St. Charles lies about 40 miles west of Chicago. It was home to several Underground Railroad stations as well as the abolitionist group the Kane County Anti-Slavery Society. The city slogan is “Pride of the Fox” in honor of the Fox River that runs through the center of the city. Among notable attractions are the Arcada theatre, which has hosted Martin Short, Joan Rivers, and other celebrity performers, and the St. Charles Public Library, which is ranked as one of the best libraries in the United States.
