Get to know Shorewood, IL

The southwestern suburb of Shorewood is roughly 44 miles from Chicago in Will County.  Settled in 1830 as a fishing and resort town, the village was known as Troy until it was incorporated in 1957 and began to develop into a suburban community.  Attractions include Hammel Woods and the DuPage River, both of which are popular for swimming, fishing, and other outdoor activities.  Since its birth in 1957, Shorewood has seen consistent growth, with several decades of explosive increases in the population.
