Get to know Mount Prospect, IL
Mount Prospect is a northwest suburb of Chicago about 22 miles from the city. In 1874, a man named Ezra Eggleston bout most of the land that would become downtown Mount Prospect. He named the town for the land’s height in comparison to the surrounding area and built the first train station. It is known as the home of the first indoor air-conditioned wall in the Midwest, Randhurst Village. In 2008, Businessweek named Mount Prospect the best city in the United States to raise children. Experiencing its greatest population increase during the 1950’s-1960’s Baby Boom, Mount Prospect has not seen much growth since the 1980s.
