Lindenhurst is a far northern Chicago suburb.  Incorporated in 1957, the village was originally the farm of a wealthy landowner and got its title from the rows of linden trees that framed the original farmhouse.  Lindenhurst has had consistent population growth since its inception, however the rate of growth has slowed since 2000.  The most common reason for people moving from Lindenhurst is to be closer to work.
