Libertyville is an affluent suburb north of Chicago on the Des Plaines River. When a branch of the Milwaukee Road train line expanded to Libertyville in 1881, the community quickly grew and was incorporated as a village the following year. Popular attractions in Libertyville include several forest preserves as well as historic downtown Libertyville. The village is best known for their “Goose is Loose” festival, a fundraiser for local charities held each spring by the Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Club.
