Get to know Libertyville, IL

Libertyville is an affluent suburb north of Chicago on the Des Plaines River.  When a branch of the Milwaukee Road train line expanded to Libertyville in 1881, the community quickly grew and was incorporated as a village the following year.  Popular attractions in Libertyville include several forest preserves as well as historic downtown Libertyville.  The village is best known for their “Goose is Loose” festival, a fundraiser for local charities held each spring by the Libertyville Sunrise Rotary Club.  Some famous residents of Libertyville include Adlai Stevenson and Marlon Brando.  Work related moves are the most common reason people leave the village.
