Get to know Lansing, IL
The suburb of Lansing is roughly 7 miles south of the city limits of Chicago. The village was incorporated in 1893, and the industrial development of nearby Calumet quickly attracted immigrants. The most popular attraction in Lansing is North Creek Woods, a park with paved trails and a scenic non-navigable creek. After experiencing population growth throughout much of the twentieth century, village population has plateaued since the early 1990’s. Most people leave Lansing because they want a change in scenery.
