Get to know Franklin Park, IL
Franklin Park is a working class residential community west of Chicago in Cook County. After the Chicago and Wisconsin railroad was built in the 1880’s, the area was settled by Lesser Franklin, who hoped the village would become a modern residential and industrial community built around the new railroad. The village was incorporated in 1892, and although the Chicago and Wisconsin Railroad would shut down before 1900, modern Franklin Park is home to 3 Metra stations. It exploded in size between 1940-1960, but has experienced little population growth since the 1970’s.
