Get to know Evanston, IL

Evanston is a northern suburb of Chicago.  The city is the home of Northwestern University, which was established in the territory in 1851, and named after one of the university’s founders, John Evans.  The university is by far the largest employer in Evanston.  The population, which has changed minimally since the 1970’s, is largely transient because it is a university town.  Most people move from Evanston for work related reasons.  Some popular attractions include Grosse Point Lighthouse and Mount Trashmore, a repurposed landfill that is now a park.
