The southwestern suburb of Bolingbrook located 28 miles from Chicago, is a new suburb that was only established in 1965. Originally unincorporated settlement territory, Bolingbrook began to take modern form with the 1950s housing boom. The population exploded in the 1970’s, and experienced a second growth wave in the 1990’s. The population has seen a slower growth rate in recent years, likely due to other popular Lake County cities having lower housing costs and less crowded school systems. One popular attraction is Hidden Lakes Park, which features a fully stocked trout pond. Bolingbrook is also home to Clow International Airport, which sees 70,000 take-offs and landings annually.
