Get to know Yucaipa, CA

Yucaipa lies roughly 10 miles east of San Bernardino.  It was originally home to Serrano Indians before the Spanish, Mexicans, and Americans took control of the land in the Yucaipa Valley.  The name comes from the Serrano word “yucaipat”, meaning “green valley.”  Members of the Lugo family owned the ranch land in the 19th century before selling the land to Mormon settlers in 1851.  The area was farmed by settlers, including Enoch Parrish who started the Parrish Pioneer Ranch in 1876.  The Stater Bros.
