Get to know West Covina, CA

West Covina lies in the San Gabriel Valley and is part of the Greater Los Angeles area.  When the city of Covina sought to build a sewage farm in the area, citizens incorporated as the City of West Covina in 1923 to avoid this.  The area saw walnut and orange groves prosper.  The population exploded following World War II, making it one of the fastest growing cities in the country.  The top employers in West Covina include the Citrus Valley Medical Center-Queen of the Valley Campus and the West Covina Unified School District.  Famous residents have included Joan Jett, Tim Robbins, and Troy Aikman.
