Get to know Rialto, CA
The San Bernardino County city of Rialto is known as “Bridge City.” It is believed that the land was first settled by Serrano Native Americans. In 1842 the Lugo family was granted Rancho San Bernardino. The Mountain Family purchased part of the ranch in 1851 and some surrounding land that would become Rialto. The town was built up in 1887 when the Santa Fe Railroad line between San Bernardino and Pasadena passed through the area. Rialto was incorporated as a city in 1911. One notable resident was Rodney King, who lived in the city at the end of his life.
