Get to know Redondo Beach, CA
Redondo Beach is one of the Beach Cities in Los Angeles’ South Bay region. The area was part of the Rancho San Pedro under the Spanish. In 1854 parts of the ranch were sold to Henry Allanson and William Johnson for the Pacific Salts Works. Moonstone Beach was a popular tourist spot from the 1880’s into the 1920’s. Tourists would gather moonstones that washed ashore during storms. The City of Redondo Beach was incorporated in 1892. Popular attractions include the Municipal Pier and the beach. The city’s largest employers are Northrop Grumman and the Redondo Beach Unified School District.
