Get to know La Habra, CA

La Habra is a city in northwest Orange County.  It was named for the “Pass Through the Hills”, a natural pass through the northern hills discovered by Spanish explorers in 1769.  It was part of Mariano Reyes Roldan’s Rancho Canada de La Habra until Abel Stearns purchased the land in the 1860’s.  La Habra was founded in 1896 and named for the former ranch.  It was incorporated as a city in 1925.  By 1928 it was California’s largest avocado center.  The main employers in La Habra are CVS and Wal-Mart.  One notable resident was Richard Nixon, who opened a law office in the city in 1938.
