Get to know Inglewood, CA
The city of Inglewood is in Los Angeles County’s South Bay region. The area was originally used as grazing land. In 1822 a Ygnacio Avila constructed the first structure, a corral and hut for herders. Avila was granted Rancho Aguaje de la Centinela in 1836. The city was incorporated in 1908. The Hollywood Park Racetrack opened in 1938 and served as a premier horse racing venue until its closure in 2013. Fosters Freeze, California’s first soft serve ice cream chain, was founded in Inglewood by George Foster in 1946. Popular attractions include Randy’s Donuts and The Forum. Famous residents have included Tyra Banks and Becky G.
