Get to know Garden Grove, CA

Garden Grove is located in northern Orange County.  It was founded in 1874 by Alonzo Cook.  It was a small rural area until the railroad arrived in 1905.  The town prospered with the rail connection because the orange, walnut, chili pepper, and strawberry crops could be sent to market.  It experienced a boom following World war II and was incorporated as a city in 1956.  The main employers in Garden Grove include Air Industries Corp. and American Apparel Knit & Dye.  Popular attractions include the annual Strawberry and Shakespeare Festivals.  Famous residents have included Steve Martin and Nicole Brown Simpson.
