Get to know Corona, CA

The city of Corona is known as “The Circle City” for its unique street layout.  It was founded in 1886 during the citrus boom and was the “Lemon Capital of the World” for a time.  The city incorporated in 1896.  The land was used agriculturally for much of the 20th century.  By the 1980’s the city became popular with land developers because of the high real estate prices in Los Angeles and Orange counties.  Corona had become a major LA suburb by the 1990’s, with celebrities favoring the relative privacy in the city.  The city is home to several companies, including Monster Beverage, Saleen, and Lucas Oil Products.  The top employers include Corona-Norco Unified School District, Corona Regional Medical Center, and Watson Pharmaceuticals.  Famous residents have included Jodie Sweetin and Gary Webb.
