Get to know Clovis, CA
The city of Clovis lies less than 7 miles from Fresno. It was organized as a freight stop in 1890 by spectators of the San Joaquin Valley Railroad. The land had been farmed by Clovis Cole and George Owen, who sold it to the railroad. The area grew when a lumber flume and mill began operations in 1894. The city was incorporated in 1912. The main employers are the Clovis Unified School District and the Clovis Community Hospital.
