Get to know Buena Park, CA

Buena Park is an Orange County city roughly 12 miles northwest of Santa Ana.  The area was settled by Spanish explorers who received land grants for enormous ranches.  One of these, Rancho Los Coyotes, was on what is present day Buena Park.  The area change hands from the Spanish, to Mexico, and finally to America.  Abel Stearns had acquired Rancho Los Coyotes, and sold 690 acres to Chicago grocer James Whitaker in 1885.  In 1887 Whitaker founded the city in conjunction with the transcontinental railroad.  Buena Park began as an agricultural center, producing dairy, wine, and citrus among other products.  The city incorporated in 1953 and serves as a residential and commercial hub today.  The city is known for several attractions, including Knott’s Berry Farm, in the E-Zone district.  The city’s top employers include Knott’s Berry Farm and Prologis, and serves as the headquarters of 99 Ranch Market.
