About Italian Village

Columbus’ Italian Village is one of the most desirable neighborhoods to live in. Italian Village was established in 1862 by Italian and Irish immigrants. They inhabited the area and worked to construct one of the first street systems leading to downtown Columbus. The name “Italian Village” was inspired by the neighborhood’s architecture, which has a heavy Italian-style influence. Italian Village now highlights its history with preserved parks and original buildings. It also maintains the highest home value appreciation in the Columbus area because of its preservation.

The beloved physical features of Italian Village started deteriorating in the 1970s, inspiring the creation of the Italian Village Commission in 1972 to revitalize the entire neighborhood. Italian Village is now on the National Register for Historic Places in the United States due to the organization’s initiatives.

Italian Village is located within the Short North area of Columbus and is neighbored by the Downtown District. This location makes commuting downtown simple for its residents. If that isn’t convincing enough, Italian Village makes everyone feel at home with h narrow brick roads, long-lasting architecture, and flourishing tree-lined streets.

Italian Village is bordered by Interstate 670 on the south, Fifth Avenue on the north, North High Street on the west, and the Conrail railroad tracks to the east.
