Get to know Paramount, CA

Paramount is a city within the Greater Los Angeles area.  The city was organized under the Spanish Rancho San Pedro and Rancho Los Nietos.  The land was later ceded to the United States following the Mexican-American War.  The city was created in 1948 and named after Paramount Boulevard, the main north-south thoroughfare in the city.  The City of Paramount was incorporated in 1957 to avoid annexation by neighboring communities.  The hay and dairy industries flourished in the city until raising prices for land crushed the industries.  The last dairy closed in 1977.  The city is the home of the Zamboni Company.  One popular attraction is the Paramount Hay Tree.
