Get to know Lake Forest, CA

The Orange County city of Lake Forest is known as one of the safest cities in the country.  It was originally called El Toro when the community began in 1863.  Dwight Whiting helped to bring the Santa Fe Railroad to the area.  It served as the epicenter of the Saddleback Valley in the 20th century.  The city was incorporated in 1991 and named Lake Forest after the two manmade lakes created around the housing tracts.  The city headquarters a number of major companies, including Oakley, Inc. and Panasonic Avionic Corporation, which are also the major employers in the city.
